Ella is around 230 km from Bandaranaike International Airport and the drive takes about six hours, climbing from sea level to 1,040 metres through tea country. It is a long transfer, and the honest advice is that it is better broken - but if you want to reach the hills on day one, we run it as a fixed-price direct transfer with stops built in at no extra charge.

Direct, or broken over two days?
Six hours after a long-haul flight is a lot. Many guests prefer to overnight in Negombo or Kandy and continue the next morning, which turns the transfer into part of the holiday rather than an endurance test.
If you do drive straight through, the route passes Ramboda Falls, tea factories around Nuwara Eliya and several viewpoints. Stopping costs nothing extra - the price covers the vehicle and driver for the journey, not a meter.
Combining with the train
A popular variation: we drive you to Nanu Oya, you take the famously scenic 3-4 hour train leg into Ella, and your driver meets you at the station with your luggage. You get the ride everyone comes for without carrying bags through a crowded carriage.
